When we were awaken the next morning, we hurriedly got ready for the coming day. After shaving and getting cleaned up, we dressed in our uniforms for the day. We were then loaded on our buss, and taken for breakfast.

We arrived at the same restaurant as the night before, and went in for breakfast. The Master and his party were already there, and in the process of eating their breakfast. They watched us file in, and be seated at our tables. They just kept on with their conversation and eating, and not giving us anymore attention. When the Master and his party were through with breakfast, they left without even looking in our direction.

Once all the wrestlers were through with breakfast, we boarded the bus. We returned to the arena, where we did our business and cleaned up. We then boarded the bus again, for a sightseeing trip around the city of Lomé.

We did get off the bus to visit some sites in the city, but mostly we just observed the city from the bus. When we did get off the bus, we were kept in a close group. When we incountered crowds, the guards were very protective. Since I was the center of attention at times, one of the guards always had a hold of my arm, and Antar was at my side.

We were stopped many times, and ask questions about who we were, and what we were doing in the city. The guards would always tell them, we were wrestlers there to perform at the city arena. They would be informed we would be wrestling that night, and then again the next evening. This is when I learned we would be there for two days, and be performing twice.

Once we had been touring for about three hours, we were then informed we would be going for lunch shortly. So it was back to the arena, so we could get ready to go for lunch. Once everyone had a chance to get cleaned up, we boarded the bus for our trip to the restaurant. We arrived at the same restaurant as before.

We filed into the restaurant, and sat at the same tables as before. I looked around, but there was no sign of the Master and his party. So I ask about the Master, and was told they were eating at a different restaurant. It seemed they were having lunch with the owner of the arena, and that he had taken them to his favorite restaurant.

Once we had all finished, we then boarded the bus, and it was back to the arena. Once there we removed our uniforms, and were allowed to either sit around talking, or we could relax laying down. Augu and Antar joined me at my bed, and we talked about our tour of the city, and the food we had to eat. Soon we tired of talking, and they returned to their beds, and I lay down to rest before the evening wrestling matches.

Since it was a short time before we wrestled, we were given light snacks before time to wrestle. We then did our business and cleaned up, then we were given our wrestling briefs. We then just sat around, waiting for time to go downstairs. Finally the word was given, and we went down to the arena.

When we walked in, I was surprised at the size of the crowed. This crowd was many times larger than the crowd days before. We sat in our assigned seats, behind the wrestling platform. The crowd was seated on the other side, and at both ends of the platform.

We were taken two at a time on to the platform, and were then given the signal to begin our match. As usual, Antar went first with his apponent, and was the victor. Then the others wrestled, and some of the winners of each first match , would wrestle each other. Once everyone was finished, it was time for Antra and I to perform.

When we took the platform, there was a lot of discussion among the crowd. Many were surprised to see a white man amoung the wrestlers, and they seemed to be really impressed with Antra’s muscular build. But I did hear some comments on my body, and my muscular build. So I’m not quite sure what the crowd was expecting.

Once Antra and I were give the signal to start, we lunged at eachother. Neither of us making a good contact, so it was step back and go again. We continued our match with holds and escapes, and we were giving the crowd a good show. Finally I left myself open, and Antra took the opportunity to close in on me. I quickly stepped aside, and caught him off guard. This enabled me to get a good hold on him, and I was able to take him down. I helped him up and we hugged, this really seemed to please the crowd.

We were then taken back upstairs, where we showered off, and were given some additional food that night. We were allowed to relax, and had some time to talk about the night. Then we were informed it was time for bed, so we did our toilet duties. Once through, we got in bed, and the guard turned out the lights.
