The next morning I was up and getting ready for the days work. I had finished my breakfast, and was getting ready to start my day working. I was approached by Alowdme, and he told me he had been talking with Kofi. Alowdme said Kofi had talked with his uncle, and had ask him to check with his friends in the government in the Capital. Naziru is going to check with his friends in the Capital, about why a white man was being used as a prison slave.

This put fear in me, because I knew authorities in the Capital, would contact authorities here for an answer. I knew word would reach Tettey, about the inquiry, from his friends in the local government. I knew Tettey couldn’t allow me to be interviewed, so he would have to get rid of me. I was sure, that I would be taken up to Tettey, so he could eliminate me.

I decided I would have to convince Minogow, who I really was, and what was going to happen to me. I ask Alowdme to get the overseer, because I had something to tell them. I told Alowdme it was very important, that my life was in danger, and possibly his and the overseer’s lives as well. Alowdme wanted to know what I was talking about, and I told him to hurry, that I would tell them together.

Alowdme and Minogow approached, and wanted to know what I was talking about. I informed them, that I was the mine owner, and that Tettey was the manager that I had hired. I told them about my being declared mentally incompetent, and that with the help of friendly government authorities, Tettey had been able to takeover everything.

I pointed out, that since Kofi and his uncle had started an inquiry, that Tettey would have to silence me. I told them that I need protection from Tettey, to avoid being killed. They were hesitant at first, but once they talked things over, they realized my story made sense. They had always wondered about my being there, and not in a prison in the Capital. So they agreed, to make sure Tettey didn’t take me out of the pit.

I went back to work, hopping things would workout, and that I would not be killed. Alowdme got on his phone and called his uncle. He learned that Kofi and his uncle, had found out that no white slave was listed by the local authorities. They were told only one white man lived in the area, and that he was the owner of a local gold mine. This backed up my story, so Alowdme and Minogow said they would protect me, from Tettey, and help get things worked out.

Later that afternoon, authorities showed up at the mine, and came down to talk with me. They told me they had no idea, that I was being used as a slave by Tettey. I was informed, that they had found Tettey dead, in his house across the road. They believe he committed suicide, when he found out that he was going to be arrested, and taken to the Capital.

I was taken across the road, to the house, and allowed to get dressed. I was taken to my lawyer’s office, where I was able to get things straightened out. While I was there, I had them draw up a contract, and a document transferring the mine ownership. I was giving the gold mine, as co-owners, to Alowdme and Minogow, with the stipulation, that I could live there, as long as I wished. The contract gave my lawyers power of attorney, to continue taking care of my businesses and finances.

Once I had all that taken care of, I returned to the mine. I gave the ownership papers to Alowdme and Minogow, to read and agree with my stipulation. They had no problem with my stipulation, so they signed. They ask why I had given them ownership of the mine, and I told them, I trusted them to take good care of the men working in the mine. I handed the copies over to my lawyer, who had accompanied me back to the mine.

I then went across the road, to the house, and told the guard he would be needed to guard the property. I informed the guard, that he would be receiving payment from my lawyers. I informed him, I would not be spending time at the compound, but would possible show up at times.

I then returned to the mine office, where I removed my clothes, and put them away. I then descended to the pit, where I told Alowdme and Minogow, that I would be living and working there as a slave. They couldn’t believe I wanted to live that way, but they were willing to accept my decision. I told them not to tell the other slaves, who I was and not to treat me different. I told them I would preform as I had been doing in the past.

After eating the evening meal, I helped Alowdme with his workout. After our workout, we went to the shower and I bathed him. He then took me to the slave quarters, and locked me in for the night.

I joined Kamiza, and we talked for awhile. He wanted to know what had happened, and why I had been gone. He wanted to know who the men were, that had visited me that day. I told him the trurh, I told him they were there to check on me, since I was a foreigner. That seemed satisfy him, so we went to sleep.
