Fire in the Firehouse

(Part 1 from 3. Fiction.)

It was a cold, cloudy Friday, in the middle of January in the high Sierras closest to Nevada. Colby, a hot, young rookie new to the local fire department had just shown up to the fire station for his shift. This young Adonis was the dream of every woman and some men. Standing 6' 2'' and a healthy and solid 200 lbs of muscle. Golden brown hair with accents of blonde streaks he added himself. His blue-green eyes the likes many people would spend good money buying contact lenses to duplicate. He was just barely 22 years old. He found his way into the academy almost by accident. He was going around in college since age 18 taking pointless courses. He grew fed up with that and began enrolling in classes to find a real future.

Colby was never one to be bogged down by a woman in his life. He did the school dances, the movies, the dating. But he never seemed to have a solid significant other. No one paid much attention to that detail due to the fact Colby had been the star quarterback in high school and he was also head of the year book committee. His senior year was full of activities. He was the big man on campus no doubts there. Always invited to all the coolest parties and the like. Never one to partake in drinking, drugs, anything. He'd worked too hard on his body to cram it full of crap as he saw it.

Young Colby even used his great looks to his advantage once, but more or less reluctantly. Right before his 20th birthday, the college he attended practically begged him to do this calendar they were putting together to raise money for several departments that needed funds to get through the year and keep the projects going. At first he refused, not wanting to be ogled for his body like he'd always been. He was sick of that. But when he heard how desperate they were and that they were just one man shy, he went for it. Much to his chagrin, he was made the cover model. Colby wished he'd said no, knowing the attention it would bring being on the cover. Much to his delight, it actually pushed people away. Not out of fear, but out of respect. A friend had told him guys were afraid he'd not want to be friends and girls assumed he was stuck on himself.

As it happened, the pictures ended up him being him wet with just a towel to cover his cock. The way the picture came out, you could see the slightest parts of his well sculptured ass. Colby was happy with people backing off. There were those that tried approaching him, he would be kind, but not over extend himself. The youthful stud kept a few friends off to the side from his high school days. The big problem, very few people he met came to him for him. They came to him because of his looks. Girls wanted to fuck him, while guys hung with him in hopes of them becoming more like him and they knew it would lead to more lays for them. Colby didn't buy all that crap. He even became a bit more agitated when friends and even some family urged him to try posing for Playgirl. The thought briefly stirred his mind, but he wanted to be respected for him and who he was, not just his body. He'd worked hard to look as he did and didn't need, in his mind to be known just for that. Quite literally this is how he finally chose to become a fireman. It was a profession where he'd not be ogled as a side of beef, but respected for what he could do to help others. This would give him what was missing from his life-acceptance as a person and not one for his looks. He was his own man. But Colby harbored a deep, personal secret.

As he got to the station, early as always for his shift, he saw the station was empty, quickly learned why. There was a huge storm heading their way and all personnel were out doing some preparations for the impending storm.

Meanwhile, 23 year old Mitch, also new to the department was just arriving at the station. He saw Colby's 4X4 truck, almost a necessity in these parts, parked in its usual spot. Mitch parked his 4X4 next to his fellow firemen. Mitch, at one time had been the total opposite of Colby. In school Mitch was an outcast. Wore thick glasses, braces, zits enough to make him the spokesman for Proactiv and Clearasil both. Mitch had, in junior high before puberty ruined his life as he saw it, wanted to be the all American jock in high school. Nature, however fought back and killed those dreams making him feel insignificant and less of a cool guy. He figured it was worthless to even try to fit in. Before puberty and the need for glasses and braces was a handsome young man.

Right before graduation Mitch did what many thought was impossible. After being teased, ridiculed, and harassed to the point the young man thought of ending it all, he fought back against those urges. He was blessed to have a wealthy uncle. His parents held their own, bills paid, but nothing much left for extras. Mitch's uncle, single, no kids himself, and gay took pity on the plight of his favorite nephew. Mitch's Dad and his brother, his favorite uncle were very close. His being gay did nothing to ruin their relationship. Secretly the two brothers plotted to change Mitch's life. Both men knew that you shouldn't be judged by looks, but the cold reality, it happens that way.

In mid April, not too far off from graduation day, the two men approached Mitch. They were like two kids beaming to share a secret. They'd made calls to book appointments for all sorts of things. They'd taken the liberty of making Mitch an appointment with a good dermatologist, his braces were due off in a week. They made an appointment with a hair stylist, and even one to have his eyes corrected. In a few day's time, Mitch was nothing short of a miracle. To make up for his misgivings, he spent hours in the gym, but kept his body hidden because the rest of him as he saw it was in shambles. There was a pool party a few Saturdays before graduation. Mitch's best friend was giving it and invited him before the big transformation. No one had yet seen him because all of the changes occurred over spring break.

Word soon got out Mitch was coming and it changed the mood of the party. People dreaded his arrival because of the outcast he was. An hour after the party began Mitch arrived. The decorations were blowing in the wind, there were balloons and sheets of soft fabric. It was a very swanky party done up in style. Someone had moved over to the stereo, had a notion to put on a CD from when they were all younger. Janet Jackson's CD "Janet" was put on. As if it had been planned down to the detail, Mitch hit the step to the porch in time to the music, the wind blew, pulling back the fabric, with the sun beaming behind, all that was seen, his silhouette. As he entered, his classmates stood, all dazed and dumbfounded. No one recognized him. And soon all his peers were making a fuss over him. That day was the best of Mitch's life. They all made their way outside where everyone got a glance of him in his trunks. 6' 3'', chestnut brown hair, hazel eyes, 215 lbs of perfect jock-body muscle. The day had come for Mitch. It was his day to shine, and that he did.

As Mitch made the transition form high school to college, he, too, became lost his first year and then figured he'd make a good living as a fire fighter and could put his body to good use. Which basically how Colby saw it, might as well use the body he was blessed with.
