Fire in the Firehouse 8

(Part 2 from 4. Fiction.)

"Honestly, all I know for sure is about spell casting. Yes, there are those that are gifted, I may be for all I know. But that's not my goal in life. Nor do I want to go that path. Just my being a witch by my birth line allows us the freedom to marry as such. There are other alternatives. We could go to Canada, too. Its just a suggestion." Mitch was fearful. Did he think it all over properly before dropping this bombshell? Should he have kept the family secret just that? A million thoughts flooded his mind, he thought to himself, for a second he thought he felt his soul starting to die.

Colby was in a dream state. He didn't know what to say or do. He wasn't exactly scared. Just in uncharted waters. He knew he'd have to think fast or the evening his lover planned would be ruined. But, try as he might, he couldn't shake it.

Mitch, not able to take the silence bolted up from the bed, grabbed his robe, identical to Colby's hanging on a nearby hook and ran out the bedroom door, heart pounding, he was also beating himself up mentally knowing he jumped too fast. But he was thinking with love in his heart. He mumbled to himself as he ran outside on their patio, tears streaming down his face. "Fuck. I'm such an idiot. How could I be so damn stupid? I scared him off. Its over and he'll leave now. I just HAD to go blow the lid off the family secret. I couldn't leave shit alone. Why am I always such a fuck up?" He caught himself. He couldn't speak anymore. He was sobbing too hard. He thought to himself how could a man berate himself like this and cry so hard. Then he stopped himself, realizing it didn't matter. He was in love with Colby and the risk and possibility of losing him was too much to comprehend. He rationalized his emotions were justified.

Colby, meanwhile, sat on the bed collecting his thoughts, a few tears flowing down his face, too. He softly whispered to himself, "I can't leave things like this. I don't know what all this means, but we have to resolve it. I love Mitch too much. But a witch? Come on. This isn't Bewitched or Charmed for God's sake. This is reality." He paused. "Maybe I'm out of line. I know... Mitch needs time to himself. I know what I'll do." He walked out the room and down the hall, grabbing his robe as well. Not to say the thought of packing up and leaving didn't cross his mind even for a split second, but his love, their love was too strong to walk out on over something like this.

Mitch stayed seated, slightly shivering, paying little attention to it due to the fact his heart was breaking and the anger he had with himself caused his blood pressure to rise, that alone was keeping him oblivious to the cold. He had hoped Colby would've joined him by now. It was too quiet. His mind poured with varying thoughts. Many scenarios unfolding, but he kept returning to seeing Colby packing his clothes and leaving him. He couldn't shake that image. "Why isn't he coming out here? Is it over just like this? I thought we had a better relationship than this. I should go inside, but if I see him packing his shit, I can't handle that. I might as well die." Mitch recognized he needed to gather himself up. But he just couldn't venture inside yet. Not at the risk of seeing Colby possibly leaving him. He listened that much harder.

He heard Colby's footsteps. He knew every minute detail of his lover. Even down to his footsteps. They were swift and short and they filled the air with a mysterious purpose. Obviously he wasn't going anywhere, at least he hoped. Next thing he heard, a familiar and somewhat comforting sound. He never realized that sound could be so soothing. It was the sound of the computer booting up. He knew that was a good sign. Unless....

Would Colby be contacting Drake? Was he going to leave him and go to Drake? Now he had a new matter to dwell on. When Mitch was nervous, his mind flew, ideas washing through his conscious. His mind always got the better of him. He tried to distract himself staring at the moon as the light hogged the dark that was trying to dominate the sky. The moon was all encompassing as it sat there staring back at him. He was briefly taken back to being a teen, lying under the night sky with a similar moon on a summer's night. The thought filled his heart with memories of a time long since forgotten. Oh to be back in those days he briefly thought.

Colby sat down as the computer booted up. Once signed on, he ignored the fact he had mail. He immediately did a Google search. Ask Jeeves would be next if need be. Colby had decided the best way around this matter would be to look up Wicca online. Then, once satisfied with his research he'd talk calmly to his lover.

Colby began getting some details and info right away. He began reading, there was just so much on the topic. He'd scan over things of least importance. He read up on witches from back to the days of the Salem witch trials. He saw some stuff on handfasting and glanced over it. He would get there later once his initial hunger had been filled.

As time past, Mitch decided to come in. By this point the coffee had gone through him and it needed out. He'd stayed outside long enough. He looked toward his lover, the other turned, smiled and that alone reassured him things were going to work out, at least he hoped.

As he peed, Mitch still had cause to worry as he saw it. He stood over the toilet, penis in hand, feeling the cold linoleum kissing his feet. He shook both from nerves and being cold. He was a wreck, no doubts about it. He continued his piss, shook off the dribbles and headed out to their room.

He briefly caught on to what his boyfriend was researching as he'd entered back inside. He began wondering if what he read would be ammo for him to leave. He knew he had to do something. The anticipation was killing him. He grabbed the champagne and the two crystal glasses he'd bought that were wrapped. He brought all the stuff with him and made his way to his lover. He was going to find out how things would go.

As he walked out the room and headed down the hall, he noticed the ice cream was still in good shape. He just hoped they'd get to use it for what he'd planned. He smiled, and thought there was no way Colby would leave him. Everything he'd done for him had to mean something, he hoped. He'd gone all out and that alone should account for something as he saw it. He took the liberty of opening the box with the special glasses. Hoping their words would help ease the mood.

Mitch took extra precaution to walk up on his man slowly. He made a slight cough, just to alert his lover of his presence. Colby looked his way, saw the champagne and special glasses and smiled. He caught a brief glance of the glasses and saw they were engraved. "Lovers brought together by nature and God." He stared at that for a moment. He throat tightened, his eyes welled again. He wanted to speak, seeing what he did, impossible.

Mitch waited to see if Colby would welcome his presence. And the lighter haired hunk knew it was his place to let the darker haired stud know it was perfectly fine he was there. He turned his head, smiled, tears streaming down his face, motioned with his hands to grab a chair. He tried to talk, Mitch noticed that instantly, seeing the tears, he knew his lover couldn't speak. Having seen the tears, his began again, too.

Colby welcomed Mitch as he'd hoped he would. He leaned in, brushed the tears away as Mitch reciprocated. They leaned in, placing soft kisses on one another's lips. Lips like theirs were made for kissing. Full, solid lips. To best describe their lips, both shaped like the perfect model's. The perfect shape, the point right below the nose. Lips many men would almost die to have. Their lips felt smooth and buttery soft. The heat from their bodies radiated off and simultaneously warmed the other. The soft kiss helped push back their inner fears, they both took note of their feelings and crammed their inner doubts in one another to a deep place, one they both prayed would never surface again.

Mitch finally talked through his tears and emotions. "What's doin' baby doll?" Baby doll? He just called another man baby doll. But it sounded right for the moment. Colby didn't even flinch at the choice of words. He looked at him, lips pursed into a small smile, emotions being held back on his part, too.

"I figured it was best I look up Wicca and witches. If the man I'm going to marry has something unique like this in his life and it could provide an original and unique way for us to unite as one, the I needed to take the initiative to learn about it. I wanted to call you inside. But until I looked this up, I wasn't sure what I was going to do." Colby was blunt with his words.

Mitch sat there, blood rushing to his face, he felt himself starting to sweat in all the warmest places. Little beads of sweat trickled down his defined muscles. His under arm hairs curled up. His heart rate increased. Did leaving actually cross Colby's mind? Would the man he loved so very much do such a thing? He wasn't sure what he was hearing or was going to hear.

Colby knew what his lover was thinking and spoke on it. "No, baby, never. I would never leave you over this. It'd take an act of God Himself to get that to happen. Our love is timeless. My body aches for yours daily. And the love and bond we've formed is far too special and important to me. Now that I've researched all this more, I know enough now and am much more comfortable with it. When I did a Google search, a bunch of stuff on Charmed came up. And, to be honest, it was quite helpful, too. Seems two of the characters got married in a handfasting ceremony. I read up on that as well. I have to say, its not so bad at all. Besides, with the way our president and many religious people are viewing gays these days, this is a great way to go. We don't need to go the route they tried in San Francisco and all, attempting to find a city in the US where we can commit. Who knows, maybe we can help start a trend. And since I'm Catholic myself, save for not being a witch, might as well go through with this. As it is, ever since we got together everything has been against the grain. Why should this be any different?" The young man smiled, giving his lover renewed confidence.

Mitch was stunned. He couldn't speak. His muscles were so tense, his throat was clenched so tight. He'd have sworn he'd eaten a barrel of lemons. He sobbed, struggling to catch his breath. His right arm dropped casually, on the way down it bumped his robe pocket. He'd forgotten in his upset state of being that he'd placed the ring box in his pocket.

Mitch, without Colby being any the wiser reached in that very pocket, grabbed the box and gently dropped to one knee, opening the lid of the box, diamond band facing Colby. He spoke through a strained voice, "Colby love of my life...I love you truly, madly, deeply. Will you marry me?" The tears gushed down his strong cheeks. He could say no more. He soft locks draped down over his face, giving him the allure of a young man trapped in an adult body. He was simply too cute for words at this point. He was trying so hard to make sure he'd not lose the man of his dreams.

Colby stared longingly into the soul of his lover. "I've waited for years to meet the right person. A year ago I might have thought it bizarre being asked by a man. That means nothing now. I would die inside daily if I ever lost you or let you go. Yes. Yes, I will marry you." Colby's face was soon just as soaked as that of his lover. In a shocking turn of events, Colby, too had a surprise. He reached in his robe pocket as Mitch got gotten back in his chair. It was now time for the other youthful man to bend down on one knee.

Mitch was beside himself with emotion when Colby reached out with the same ring. It wasn't purely by fate they'd managed to buy the same ring. Since they'd more or less decided what rings they wanted months ago when at the mall. They'd been playing a game that day deciding which ring they'd want someday. So it was something they both made note of and had apparently planned to be the first to pop the big question that night.

The thing was, Mitch beat Colby to the punch pulling the ring out first. Best way to describe it, they were both a mess. Tears flowing, neither really able to talk. But Colby had to say something. He couldn't just hand him the ring. Romantic tension saturated the air around them. It felt as though it pressed onto their vary bodies, screaming to break them down and burying itself inside of them both.

"My most loving Mitchell. I want you in my life both here now and to be united in Heaven someday. I seek to commit my life, my heart, and my soul to you for now and forever." Mitch didn't need to respond. Colby scooted back in his chair, they leaned in and met one another's lips and practically devoured one another. They felt confidant their fears of breaking up were destroyed.
