We anticipate being gone about four hours,” Replied Major Shepard. “Why such a small team,” asked Dr. Weir. “We will do all the recon from the jumper, no plans to land. Dr. Mccay is currently working on some of the ancient technology we discovered in yesterday’s recon of the city. Teyla is visiting her people on the mainland. I’m confident that two people will be sufficient for this mission,” answered Major Shepard. “Very well major you have a go,” replied Dr. Weir. “Let’s grab our gear and go,” Major Shepard said to Lt. Ford.

Major Shepard made a stop at his quarters to pick up his backpack and a couple of other items then head to the launch bay to meet Lt. Ford. Lt. Ford send his IDC code on the next pass. “Major Shepard, abort returning to Atlantis, acknowledge,” said Atlantis control. “Atlantis control this is Major Shepard, Acknowledge receipt of message, what’s the problem,” said Major Shepard. “Major we have a jumper stuck in the disembarkation area, the doors to the launch bay are stuck shut. Dr. Mccay advises it could be a day before the doors are fixed,” Replied Atlantis control. “Is the planet safe for you to spend the night Major,” asked Dr. Weir. “Yes doctor, the planet has no signs of life and would be safe for us to spend the night,” answered Major Shepard. “Very well then major, fine a safe spot and we’ll contact you in the morning as soon as you can return,” said Dr. Weir. “Very well, we’ll await your call,” replied Major Shepard. The gate disengaged as they headed for a safe spot to settle for the night.

After finding a safe location Major Shepard set Jumper One down and checked to make sure the cloak was operational. Lt. Ford adjusted the environmental controls in so that they’d be comfortable overnight. “Well we might as well get this set up to spend the night,” Major Shepard said as he head to the back compartment. They setup sleeping bags and ate the turkey sandwiches that Lt. Ford had brought along.

Night was approaching fast on the planet but neither of the two men was tired, the days here were different then Atlantis night was coming on faster.
