The Truth about Love Songs: Chapter 1

They spent hours in the pub laughing, talking and drinking. Lucas told Tyler all about London and what he was like before. He spoke about Julie, which made Tyler laugh a lot. He spoke about his friend, (never mentioning the gay bashing), his school; family and how different life is now. Tyler also spoke about his life his family, how his dad had die when he was just baby. How he first discovered he was gay and why he told everyone. Lucas seemed to listen extra closely when he spoke about how he had told his mum, like he was mentally taking notes. They chatted about everything. They were getting a long so well anyone passing by would have thought that they had been friends for years. They were both connecting. Lucas forgot about his hang-ups. He was enjoying himself so much that for the first time he didn’t mind being in America.

Tyler look at his watch “Shit, it’s after 10, we better be going”. Both boys got up, downed the last of their beers and headed for the car. They stepped out into a cold breeze, which ran across their bodies. Lucas pulled his jacket closer to him. Tyler closed his eyes and embraced the cold air on his face.
“What are doing” Lucas said with a little laugh
“I love that feeling”
“What the cold?”
“Yea, I mean haven’t you ever just closed your eyes and let it wash over you?”
“No”
“Well you should sometime. It’s like electric”
“I think I’ll leave that to you” 
Tyler opened his eyes, looked at Lucas and smiled. There was that feeling in his stomach again. They both stood silently, just looking into each other’s eyes with nervous little smiles. Lucas was the first to talk, “I think we should get going. My mum’s going to wonder where I am”. And with that they headed for the car, got in and Tyler drove Lucas home. When they reached Lucas’ drive way Tyler pulled up and turned off the engine. “Let me walk you to your door”. Before Lucas could answer Tyler got out of the car. 

“I had a really good time,” said Tyler as they stood in front of the house.
“Me too” said Lucas softly. He stared at Tyler not knowing what to do next.
“You do know that that was a date right?” said Tyler with a smile on his face.
“What?”
“A date. That was our first”
“That wasn’t a date”
“Yea it was”
“No, that was two friends hanging out. If it was a date I would have know about it” Am I really saying this? Lucas thought to himself.
Tyler’s smile grew wider “That was a date” He said stepping closer to Lucas. “And if you want another one then you’re going to have to admit it”
It was Lucas’ time to smile “Well who said I wanted a date with you in the first place?”
“I did” Tyler said stepping even closer. Lucas could feel his warm breath on his lips and every hair on his body stood up. He swallowed hard and waited. He could see the intensity in Tyler’s eyes. His heart began to race and hands began to sweat. Tyler was inches away from his lips as he whispered “ I really want to kiss you” 
Lucas eye widened. He thought he was going to pass out. It was a cold night but he could feel a bead of sweat running down the back of his neck. His heart beating so hard against his chest he thought he was going to break a rib. He could smell Tyler’s strong musty scent mixed with sweat and a fresh smelling after-shave. He smelt inviting and Lucas found himself wanting to put his head to his neck and breathe him in. Tyler eyes were awash with lust. He wanted Lucas bad but didn’t want to go to fast. He didn’t want to scare him off. He knew that Lucas wanted him but wasn’t sure if he was really ready to admit it yet or how far he could go with him so soon. After a minute of heavy breathing, Tyler pulled away. Lucas felt awash with disappointment.
“I should go” He said softly.
“You could come in, I mean, for a minute, if you wanted ” Lucas stammer. 
Tyler brushed he back of his had over Lucas’ cheek and said “Maybe next time” 
Lucas closed his eye, savouring the feel of Tyler’s warm hands against his skin. And all to soon it was over. Tyler pulled his had away, he winked at Lucas and then walk back to his car. He stopped before he got in and said “So, was this a date then?”
Lucas lowered his eye and smile 
“I’ll take that as a yes. I’ll see you tomorrow Lucas” and with that he got into his car and drove off.
Lucas watched Tyler’s car disappear into the darkness. He stood outside his house long after Tyler has gone, running through the last few day events. “Was this really happening?” he kept asking himself. “I am really ready to do this? What’s everyone going to say if turns around and says his gay? What about his friend’s back home, they’ll never talk to him again. Round and round the thoughts and question were going on and on. After a while he couldn’t take the cold anymore and went inside.

The next day at school, as Lucas was putting his books into his locker felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned around and saw Tyler standing there smiling.
“Hey”
“Hiya”
“So, I had a great time last night”
“Yea, me too”
“I was thinking we could do it again tonight”
“I don’t think so”
Tyler’s face fell; he couldn't hide the disappointment in his face. “Why?”
“Cos I got into shit for coming in so late and not telling anyone where I was going” A small smile fell on Lucas face. “You can come round if you like, but I’m not allowed out, I have to baby-sit”.
“Sorry for getting you into shit” 
“It ok, I’m always in some kind off trouble. So do you want to come round later? ”
“Yea, that would be cool”

The whole day Lucas was watching the clock. He couldn’t wait till the day was over. He really wanted to be alone with Tyler. He decided he wasn’t going to stress himself about what he was feeling, instead he was just going to go with the flow and see what happens. By the time the bell rang Tyler was already waiting for Lucas out side his class. He greeted him with a great big smile “Ready?”

As they pulled up in Tyler’s car Lucas turned to him and said “No one in my family knows anything about us”
Tyler smiled “There’s an us?”
“You know what I mean”
“No, please expand”
“Look, no one knows that I was with you yesterday”
“You mean, on are date?”
Lucas laughed “what ever, just don’t say anything”
“What, about the fact that you were on a date with me yesterday? Or that you are now realising how hot I am and how much you want me? Or is it this you don’t want me to mention”. Tyler leaned over and kissed Lucas softly on the lips and then pulled away. Lucas said nothing. All he could do was stare into Tyler’s eyes. His heart started thumping in his chest again. Although the kiss only lasted a second, Lucas felt like it was the best kiss he had ever had in life. He wanted to grab Tyler and kiss him again but his body would move. His mind was spinning. He looked into Tyler eyes, which were filled with passion. He was mesmerised by the beauty sitting in front of him. 
After about 30 seconds Tyler broke the silence “So are we going in or what?” With out waiting for a response he got out of the car and walked towards the front door.
Lucas had to snap himself back to reality. He got to the car and run to his front door where Tyler was waiting. Lucas had a goofy smile on his face, like the cat that got the cream. “You ready to meet my mad family?”
“Yep, but before we go in I would take that smile of your face, unless your ready to tell everyone that your gay and about us tonight”.
“Us, what us?” 
They both laughed and entered the house.

“Is that you Lucas” He heard his mother call
“Yea. I’ve got a friend with me and were going to my room”
“Straight to the bedroom uh? Can’t wait to get me all alone” Tyler whispered Lucas’ ear. 
“Not so fast young man, I want a word”
Lucas rolled his eyes “What?” he yelled out
“In here, now”
Both boys headed for the kitchen and found everyone sitting around the table except for his older brother.
“Oh shit” said Millie dropping her folk and gazing up at Tyler. Tyler smiled widely.
“Watch your mouth Millie,” Said her father.
“What is it mum?”
“I wanted to make sure you remembered that you’re going to be taking care of your brothers and sisters tonight. Your father and I have a very important dinner to go to”.
“ I still don’t understand why Bill or Sarah cant do it”
“Because Bill’s out with what’s her name and Sarah ………..”
“…….. And I’ve got to work, so your next in line” Sarah injected.
“Fine, can I go now?”
“Who’s your friend?” Lucas’ dad said before they could walk away.
“Yea, Who's your friend?” both Mya and Millie said together
“Hi I’m” Tyler he said walking over and introducing him self to both parents and Lucas’ older sister.
“Nice to meet you Tyler. Lucas hasn’t mentioned you before.”
“Can we not do this now dad? We’ve got homework to do” And without saying another word he grabbed Tyler by the arm and walked up stairs.

As they entered Lucas’ room they could hear a heated argument going on down stairs. Lucas' face went a bit red. “Sorry about that”
“It’s cool, I think its kind of nice having a big family anyway. I wished I wasn’t an only child”
“It’s not nice, trust me, you’re better of alone.”
Lucas and Tyler both put their bags down in the corner of the room then turned and looked at each other.
“Nice room”
“Thanks” Both Lucas and Tyler had their hands in their jean pocket; the nervous were kicking in for both of them.
“So” Tyler started
“So”
“Are we just going to stand here”
“Well, do you want to listen to some music”
“No, I want you to come here”
Lucas felt his heart skip a beat. Was this going to happen now? He began to walk forward.
“I think you should lock the door”
Lucas’ heart jumped again at his words. He turned back and locked the door. He turned to see Tyler smiling. He walked over and stood in front of him. Tyler raised a hand to Lucas’ cheek. “I’ve been wanting to doing this for a long time”. He moved his hand to the back of Lucas’ neck and moved his head forward. Before their lips connected there was a bang on the door.
“Lucas, I need to talked to you” Shouted Mya
Both of them nearly jumped out of their skins and Tyler began to laugh. 
“Shit” ‘Lucas said softly. “Go away” he shouted, still staring at Tyler.
“But I need you, it’s important”
“No it’s not. Go away”
“What are you both doing, Why is the door locked” They could hear her trying the handle.
“GO AWAY NOW” he yelled. Tyler laughed a little more.
“FINE” she shouted back “But I’m telling mum,” Before she left she said in her sexiest voice “Hi Tyler”. They then heard her storm off down stairs.
“I think I have the same affect on your sister as I do on you”.
“You arrogant shit” 
“It’s all part of my charm. So, shall we try this again?” Tyler raised his hand to the back of Lucas’ neck again and pulled him closer. Their lips were about to touch one again when they heard “Lucas” from behind his door.
“I don’t believe this, What do you want Sam?”
“Will you play Playstation with me?”
“Ask Matthew”
“I did but he said to ask you”
“Ask Charlie”
“He said he has homework to do”
“Ask Mya or Millie”
“They’ll just shout at me and say no”
“Well try Sarah”
“She’s going work. Please Lucas”
“I’ll play with you later Sam”
“Pleaseeeeeeeeeeees” 
Tyler embraced Lucas and whispered in his ear “It’s ok, we can do this later”
“But I want to do this now” Lucas whispered back
“There’s no rush”
“Lucas” Sam shouted. Frustrated and horny Lucas gritted his teeth, walked over and opened the door.
“Half an hour and that it” Sam turned ran into his room with a smile on his face. Lucas turned back to Tyler, “Are you sure about this?” he said with a little frown on his face.
“Yea, like I said we’ve got time to…”
“Are you coming?” Sam interrupted with his head popping out from behind his bedroom door. They both smile and headed toward Sam’s room. “Still think that having a big family is nice?”

After 3 hours of playstation, Sam had worn himself out and had fallen asleep. Lucas put him to bed while he made Tyler wait in his room. He was about to join Tyler when Lisa woke up. He had to settle her back down, which took an extra 40 minutes. His mum and dad had left for their dinner and Sarah was now at work, so it was just him alone with the kids and Tyler. 
As he walked into his room he saw Tyler lying on his bed with his hands folded behind his head with a cheeky smile on his face.
“What?” Lucas said as he closed the door, making sure to lock it.
“Nothing, I’ve just have a nice time being here” Said Tyler as he rose from a lying to a sitting position. “Come here” he said, reaching out his hand. Lucas walked slowly over to the edge of the bed, were Tyler was now sitting. He could feel his heart racing again. As he reached out and took Tyler’s hand he felt the hairs stand on the back of his neck. He held his breath as Tyler rose off the bed and was now standing inches away from Lucas. “Do you think it’s safe now?” he smiled” 
“I don’t care” Lucas replied and leaned forward and kiss Tyler, breathing him in, he wrapped his arms around his waist. He felt his knees go weak as Tyler instinctively parted his lips and slipped his tongue into his mouth. “Mmmmmm” Lucas’ moaned softly. He had to hold on to the back of Tyler’s jumper as his legs wobbled. The feelings in both Lucas and Tyler were overwhelming. Tyler had wanted Lucas for so long. He had thought about the day he and Lucas would get together so many times but never thought that he would feel so over powered, so helpless in his arms. He never imagined he would taste as sweet as he did. Feeling his soft lips cherry lips up against his as their tongues battled for supremacy. Enjoy the warmth of Lucas’ saliva mixing with his. Hearing Lucas moan made Tyler kiss him harder. Lucas felt one of Tyler’s hands on the back of his head while the other began the move slowly up and down his spine. The sensation of his hands on Lucas’ back made him tingle all over.
Tyler pulled away from Lucas, pushed him onto the bed and draped his body on top on him and returned to the battle that was going on between the tongues. Lucas continued to moan as the firm body of Tyler slid against his. Lucas had never kissed anyone with such passion in his life. He thought about all the girlfriends he ever had, the way they use to be. He always thought he was quite a passionate person. Julie use to complement him on how intense their kissing was, but it was nothing compared to the feeling he had coursing through his body right now. His blood was boiling with lust for the boy on top of him. 
Tyler pulled away from Lucas and looked at him with satisfied look on his face. Lucas, who still had his mouth slightly parted, opened his eyes to gazed back at the boy who made him feeling like melting away. After regaining his senses he softly smiled and said, “Why did you stop”
“I have to go,” said Tyler, stroking his Cheek.
“What?… Why?… No…What?”
“While you were with Lisa, my mum called. She needs me to drop some of the old pensioners home”
“Who”
“I told you, 3 times a week my mum hold an exercise class for pensioners at the house and sometimes I have to take some of them home”
“But I thought we were just getting started?”
Tyler got up off of Lucas and sat on the edge of the bed. Lucas sat at next to him. Tyler took his hand and kissed it. “I know it’s only been a day or so but as you can tell I really like you Lucas. I’ve liked you from the first time you walked into class”. Lucas began to blush and Tyler continued. “I want to do this properly with you. You know, get to know each other first before rushing into anything. I don’t want our first time together to be some quickie. I want it to be special; I want to savour the feeling of being with you. I want to go on dates with you. Get to know you, the real you”. He pulled Lucas a little closer. “I want this, what ever it is to last and I want it to be right, not just for me but for you too. You’ve never done this before and I don’t want you to regret anything”. Tyler kissed Lucas softly on the lips before getting up and putting on his jacket. Lucas’ didn’t know whether to jump around with joy or to burst out crying. So much was going on in his head as he watched Tyler straighten himself up. He didn’t want him to leave but at the same time he was pleased Tyler didn’t want to go to fast. Deep down inside he was scared shitless at the thought of having sex with Tyler. He wasn’t sure himself if he was actually ready to going that far yet he felt an aching inside as the presents of Tyler was no longer on him. The fact that Tyler was prepared to wait for Lucas meant the world to him.
“So, you going to walk me to the door or what?” Tyler said as he retrieved his bag from the corner of Lucas room. Lucas smiled, unlocked the door and let Tyler follow him down stairs. As they got to the bottom, Lucas turned and gave Tyler a long lingering kiss.
“What if someone catches us?” Tyler said pulling away and looking around. 
“I’ll just tell them I’m kissing my boyfriend”
“Boyfriend? I didn’t say anything about being your boyfriend” Tyler said jokingly.
“Stop taking the piss”
“Sorry Twinkle, you’re just so cute,” said Tyler pinching one of Lucas’ cheeks 
“What’s that you just called me?”
“Twinkle, on account of your eyes twinkling like the stars in the sky”
“That’s disgusting, don’t call me that” 
“Well I like it, and I’m going to call you it”. And with that said Tyler kissed Lucas and walked out. Lucas waited at the front door as he watched Tyler drive away. He felt a little empty inside as Tyler‘s car disappeared into the night. Things were happening so fast and yet he knew that he wanted to be around Tyler all the time. He made him feel so good inside, so warm and safe. He wasn’t sure how he was going to tell his family that he was gay or that he was seeing Tyler. But he knew he would have to soon, cos if Tyler’s got him longing for him like this after 2 days, then there wasn’t a chance in hell of him making it a full week with out being around him. 

At 1:30am Lucas’ mobile phone rang making him jump out of his sleep. “Hi Baby” said a soft silky voice on the other end.
“Well hi to you too” Said Lucas still half asleep 
“Sorry to wake you”
“It’s ok, I never wanted 8 hours sleep anyway”
Tyler laughed softly on the other end “I just wanted to hear your voice before I went to sleep”
“Missing me are you?”
“Yea, just a bit”
“Me too” replied Lucas now opening his eyes fully.
“I wish I was there with you”
“What happen to taking it slow”
“I can still wish can’t I, besides I wasn’t planing on coming over now”
“That a shame, I would love to feel you next to me”
“All in good time Twinkle, all in good time.”
“You really need to stop calling me that”
“No”
“Ok, Well there’s one more thing I’ve leant about you”
“What’s that?”
“Stubborn”
“Tyler laughed a little again “I’m going to let you get back to sleep”
“You don’t have to go”
“Yea I do. I’ve had my fix of you and now I need my sleep besides I want you looking sexy as always tomorrow. I was thinking, how would you feel about meeting me for breakfast in the morning? ”
“Sure, name the time and place”
“How about Freddie’s, 7:30am”
“I’ll be there” 
There was a moment of silence as both boys listened to each other breath. Tyler was the first to speak. “Ok, I’m going to go, I’ll see you tomorrow morning”.
“Ok, night”. Lucas held the phone to his ear as he heard it go dead. He pulled it close to his chest on closed his eye. A smile fell across his face a he though about breakfast with Tyler and he fell back to a peaceful sleep.
