Totally unresponsive to what was going on. "don't raise your voice to me!" she said standing up. "well... I'm sorry mom. But I'm telling you, it's not a phase... It's permanent."

There was nothing she could do about this recent development, but she knew that she could still have great power in who she let's in her house. So when Shawn went upstairs, Susan went into action. Susan laid in her bed with her husband, Daniel and finally broke the silence. "do you think Shawn is going through a phase? Or do you think he's really.... A homosexual?" she said staring at the ceiling. "even if he is or he isn't, it doesn't really matter. He's still Shawn. And he gets enough crap at school over it so I would just drop it ok?" he said. They soon fell asleep.
